Very nicely written article. I loved its humor too. The assuring of the authenticity and pureness of the standard you would think would be foundational but sometimes, over time, it turns out to be someone's research that was simply inherited... so, the idea of having an inaccurate standard is not that far fetched of an idea. Usually, the mistaken sampling of previously restored (inpainted) locations on an oil painting is unlikely and not a factor for someone who is awake.
