The old sculptures in museums have lost their original colour, but chemistry can help us discover how they used to look

The sculptures from the ancient world – Greece, Rome, Egypt and China – that we see in museums today have lost the colours they originally had. Chemists are looking at remnants of their original pigments to see what things like the Terracotta Warriors or statues of Horus would have looked like.
