Manjusha Shelke

Manjusha Shelke is a chief scientist at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, and a professor in the faculty of chemical sciences at AcSIR. She is founder of a spin-off company, Rechargion Energy.

She is a materials’ chemist, and her research group is extensively working on energy storage solutions for E-mobility as well as stationary applications. She has published more than 100 peer reviewed research articles, filed 27 patents and supervised 24 PhD students in the area of materials chemistry and energy storage.

She has been elected as Kavli Fellow by National Academy of Sciences (NAS), USA in 2015 and as a Fellow of Maharashtra Academy of Sciences (MAS) in 2018. In 2021 Science & Engineering Research Board of the Indian government awarded her with Serb-Power fellowship instituted to recognise and reward outstanding women researchers and innovators working in Indian academic institutions and R&D laboratories.

She was selected for a Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship 2022-23 and worked at Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, US on deputation. She has also been awarded the MRSI medal 2023, and in 2024 was selected as one of the 75 female researchers to be featured in the book SHE IS: Women In Chemistry.
