Greetings!

It seems that, just as uncertainty is built into quantum mechanics, so ambiguity seems inescapable in the periodic system. As the group numbers are mostly notional-- the vast majority of elements evincing other oxidation states than the "group" state-- it might be best to keep it simple: I favor La-Lu and Ac-Lr being kept as part of the notional Group Three, irrespective of "d-block" and "f-block" labels. Of course, the newest superheavy elements (especially roentgenium and beyond) give indications of being far more nonconformist to traditional notions, relativistic effects causing significant departures from "group" behaviors-- copernicium and flerovium being now thought to be gaseous noble metals, for example, while tennessine and oganesson will likely not be recognizably either a halogen or a noble gas, respectively.
