Senate panel vote could see key scientific figure in the US efforts to combat Covid-19 sent to prison
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, chaired by Republican Rand Paul, voted to hold world-renowned immunologist and infection disease expert Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress on 6 August. This follows a hearing the previous week that he attended under a subpoena issued by Paul in June. Rather than bringing the resolution for a vote before the full Senate as is the typical process, Paul immediately sent it directly to the US Department of Justice.
