Firm buys pigments arm of Jiangsu Multicolor and will build new plant

Speciality chemicals major Clariant is expanding its activities in China. The company has acquired the organic pigments business of Jiangsu Multicolor Fine Chemical, and plans to build a new pigments plant in Jiangsu province.

The move gives Clariant a foothold in the fast-growing Chinese market and give the company access to domestic customers. ‘It will strengthen our ability to capture the growing demand for high performance pigments in China and in other key markets in Asia,’ said Marco Cenisio, head of Clariant’s pigments business unit, in a statement.
