One dead and three injured in an equipment explosion at PeroxyChem in Texas

An explosion at a plant owned by PeroxyChem in Bayport, US, killed a contractor and injured three other workers. The workers were ‘conducting a routine function when the service provider’s equipment exploded’, the company confirmed.

The three injured workers – two employees and a contractor – were hospitalised. The two PeroxyChem employees have since been discharged. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

PeroxyChem manufactures hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, persulfates and related products. It was formerly part of FMC, but was sold to private equity firm One Equity Partners in 2014.
